Daryl Lay B.Sc. (Hons), FPFS

Director and Chartered Financial Planner
I am the Director of HLC and a Chartered Financial Planner. I have been working within the financial industry since 1999, and have earned a great deal of knowledge and experience over the years. I chose this particular career path as I enjoy working alongside people to help them achieve their aspirations. What I enjoy most about my role is meeting new people on a daily basis, building a rapport and friendship, and ultimately helping them achieve their goals. It’s great to see a young couple get approved for their first mortgage, or to see clients climb the property ladder knowing they are set up for a secure and protected future.Although I don’t get much spare time, quite often working anti-social hours to suit my clients’ work schedules, when I do, I enjoy family time with my wife and two sons.

Tina Randhawa B.A (Hons), CeMap

After graduating in Accountancy, I completed my CeMAP and began my career in financial services. I thoroughly enjoy the challenges my role entails, and subsequently the satisfaction of seeing the company grow and helping it flourish. To wind down from a strenuous day's work, I enjoy keeping fit and spending time with friends and family. Although I must say, my real passion is following my favourite team, Liverpool FC, and I thoroughly enjoy travelling to Anfield to support them live!

Jonathan Hems CeMap

Mortgage Planning Adviser
I have been with HLC from the beginning, advising clients with mortgage and protection policies. In my former life, I was a tournament golf professional and Head Assistant at the exclusive Little Aston Golf Club. After becoming disillusioned with the sport, and after a meeting with Matthew Quigley, whom I’d known since our early teens, I got into the financial services. I now have several years of experience as an Adviser, and have helped over a thousand clients — many who return time and time again for our expert advice. The biggest joy for me within this job is helping first time buyers and families secure a new home. Seeing those families grow and prosper is something very special, and arranging a mortgage for a client is a lot more personal than just finding a good rate! Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé and son. I also enjoy playing football for the Sporting Galacticos.

Laura Williams CeMap

Mortgage Planning Adviser
I work with the HLC team as a Mortgage & Protection Adviser. Having worked in the finance sector since 2004, I enjoy finding our homebuyers the most suitable mortgage and protection deals on offer — all through my extensive knowledge and number of years of industry experience. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and getting to know my clients well, but my favourite part of this job is being able to get buyers, who never thought they’d take their first step onto the property ladder, their first mortgage agreed. It gives me real satisfaction to see my clients receive the keys to the dream home they never thought was possible. Away from work I love to spend time with my family and friends; especially my son and adorable niece, either at home or on holiday abroad with them.

Ben Rooney CeMap

Mortgage Planning Adviser
I started in the industry back in 1999, and have worked for a number of top companies over the years, including St James’ Place and Countrywide. Additionally, I spent four years in London working with the top brokerage in Mayfair. This vast experience in mortgages has provided me with vast depth of knowledge to enable me to help clients get the right mortgage and insurance protection for their individual needs. I take pride in caring for each one of my clients and their personal circumstances, and I enjoy making a client’s ideas and future plans come to life by closely fitting their needs to the right product. Outside of work, I have a fondness of times gone by and I enjoy collecting cameras — one being over a hundred years old — and photography using good old-fashioned film and methods. I am also the proud owner of a classic Mini and am currently learning to Lindy — a form of 1920’s/1930’s dance. These interests, alongside more current technology and socialising, all form part of my personal life.

Rachel Levett

Administration Manager
I first started working in the Financial Services industry over 14 years ago, dealing with only mortgages and life protection for a small company in Barnt Green. I then decided I wanted to expand my skillset and knowledge by moving into pensions and all investment types with a large company. Here, I enjoyed my role as an Administration Manager, supporting over 150 financial advisers with a team of 30 administration staff. During this time, I also completed my diploma in Management and Leadership – Level 5. I joined the HLC team because I wanted to return to the mortgage industry and feel happiest when dealing with mortgages and protection. I thrive on the satisfaction of being able to change a client’s life by helping them move into their new home. In my spare time, I enjoy socialising with my family and friends, and simply making the most of life.

Elaine Duncum

Financial Administrator
I have almost 30 years of experience in Financial Services, working for one of the leading banks for 17 years and then 12 years for a local Building Society in the Mortgage Department. I administered live accounts over the life of the mortgage until redemption and closure. I joined HLC in 2017 and my role here is ensuring mortgage applications get to offer and then through to completion, so it’s great to be able to help people reach their dreams financially. Away from work, I love eating out and socialising with friends, but family is everything to me, so the majority of my spare time is spent with them, getting together most weekends and also enjoying holidays together. On the odd occasion when I have a few hours to myself, I love nothing better than settling down with a good book and a glass of wine!

Elaine Reynolds

Financial Administrator
I have worked within the Financial Services industry for over 20 years — firstly, in a sales supporting role, assisting a team of financial consultants managing high net-worth clients. From there I progressed into a variety of IFA administrative roles working for a large IFA practice in Bromsgrove. My background has mainly focused on the Savings, Investment and Retirement areas of financial planning. However, I have joined HLC as a financial administrator focusing on mortgage and protection products which I thoroughly enjoy. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my two children, socialising with family, friends and spending time holidaying abroad. Occasionally, I punish myself and watch West Brom at the Hawthorns!!

Steve Hunter

Mortgage Planning Adviser
After 16 years as a firefighter, I decided to retrain and begin a career in financial services. I absolutely enjoy meeting new people and getting to know and understand their mortgage and protection needs, whilst trying to make the process as stress-free as possible. It gives me great satisfaction being able to help clients achieve their financial goals. I have played squash to a county standard since the age of 9 and also enjoy playing bass in a cover band. Weekends are mostly spent with my wife and three children who keep me busy whilst enjoying a glass or two of gin.

Nick Marsden

Mortgage Planning Adviser
I have worked in financial services since 2004 where I began in recruitment as a head-hunter in London. I moved into specialising in mortgage and protection services upon my return to my hometown of Bromsgrove. My role here is to research the market ensuring that my clients get the right deal available to them in terms of their mortgage and protection needs, and helping through their financial journey to achieve their financial aspirations. I take pride in receiving recommendations from my clients as it tells me I have done a good job. My aim is to transition my clients from house-hunter to homeowner with the least stress possible. Seeing them in their dream home gives me enormous satisfaction. My strengths are being able to listen to and understand what my clients actually want, and to produce a tailored solution to their needs. Away from work, I coach rugby at Bromsgrove Rugby Club and enjoy a game of golf when I can. I enjoy various city breaks with my wife where I can relax and enjoy the different cultures, cuisine and the local tipple.

Sarah Lay

Mortgage Protection Adviser
I work within HLC as a mortgage and protection adviser. I started working in the financial Services industry in 1998 for a well-known high-street bank. I have gained a great deal of experience over the years to ensure I secure the right outcome for my clients. I thoroughly enjoy getting to know my clients, and helping families secure the right home, when they may have thought it was impossible. It gives me great satisfaction when clients complete their mortgage and move into their dream home knowing I helped make that happen. Away from work I love to spend time with my family, enjoying days out and holidays by the sea. I also love to watch most competitive sports, especially cricket.

Alex Williams

Mortgage Protection Adviser
I have worked in real estate and financial services since 2000. I have spent a number of years arranging mortgages for one of the UK’s leading banks and joined HLC due to their reputation of arranging mortgages on a more personal level for their clients. I enjoy meeting new people and achieving their objectives by arranging mortgages and protection that meets their own personal needs and circumstances. I love travelling and spent a number of years playing semi-professional rugby in Australia. Since then, I have got married and have two children whom I love spending time with at the end of the working week.
